To tell the story of Duain Wolfe is to understand dedication, commitment, grit, and excellence.
From his humble beginnings in rural Louisiana to leading two of the top symphony chorus
ensembles in the world, Duain Wolfe’s commitment to excellence in the performing arts has
shaped how choral and musical directors approach the craft.

Wolfe is a two-time Grammy Award winner, Chicago Symphony Chorus Director for 28 years,
founder of the Colorado Symphony Chorus and Director since 1984, founder of the Colorado
Children’s Chorale and Artistic Director from 1974-1999, was given the 1987 Mayor’s Awards for
Excellence in the Arts from the City and County of Denver, earned the Governor’s Arts Award
from the Colorado Council on the Arts in 1999. In 2001, Wolfe received a Bonfils-Stanton
Foundation Award and In 2012, Chorus America awarded Wolfe the Michael Korn Founders
Award for Development of the Professional Choral Art, given annually to a conductor in
recognition of “a lifetime of significant contributions to the professional choral art.”

Now, as he begins his journey toward retirement, Duain Wolfe’s story is ripe to be told through
film. From his humble beginnings in rural Louisiana to creating one of the country’s leading
children’s choirs to directing two of the top symphony chorus ensembles in the world, Duain
Wolfe has shaped how choral and musical directors approach the craft.
