Denver Film Festival announces actor Annabella Sciorra in person

Sciorra to receive Career Achievement Award

DENVER – Oct. 27, 2021 – Denver Film announced today that actor Annabella Sciorra will appear in-person during the 44th edition of the Denver Film Festival. Sciorra will be in attendance for the 30th Anniversary screening of Spike Lee’s JUNGLE FEVER on Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. at the AMC 9 + CO 10 where she will also receive Denver Film Festival’s Career Achievement Award.

Sciorra played the role of Angie Tucci, the Italian secretary at the center of an affair with her married architect boss Flipper Purify played by Wesley Snipes. Following the Tribute screening, co-presented with the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (MVAAFF), Sciorra will join MVAAFF co-founder Stephanie T. Rance for The Color of Conversation panel discussion.

“Thirty years after its premiere at Cannes, JUNGLE FEVER continues to serve as an important work by Spike Lee that tapped into the critical discussions of class, culture and color that we continue to wrestle with today,” said Denver Film Festival Artistic Director, Matthew Campbell. “I know our Denver audiences will welcome the opportunity to hear directly from Annabella, revisit her brilliant performance in this film and celebrate the accomplishments of her acting career.”

Sciorra joins previously announced in-person appearances from Jamie Dornan, Clifton Collins, Jr. and Stefano Cipani, winner of the 2021 Maria & Tomasso Maglione Italian Filmmaker Award. Dornan will be on hand for a Special Presentation of BELFAST and to receive the Excellence in Acting Award from Denver Film. Collins Jr. will be on hand for his latest film and Big Night Red Carpet presentation of JOCKEY and to receive Denver Film Festival’s prestigious John Cassavetes Award. Collins Jr. will also be the centerpiece of celebration of the festival’s CineLatinx program on Nov. 12 at Denver Botanic Gardens featuring a clips program and one-on-one conversation.
